Welcome to the ECAM Alumni Genealogy Group!
This space is dedicated to all ECAM Alumni who wish to be part of a network of mutual support and enthusiasts around the practice of genealogy.
This is an Open and Collaborative Group.
Welcome to join us!
Back in 1980, when I had just graduated from ECAM (class of 1979) and was still single, expatriated for my first job to Lens (62), I set about researching my ancestors. I started in the traditional way, by asking questions of my ancestors, gathering a few family items, then writing to the town halls, and more rarely by going on location, in Brittany, Oise, Hérault, or wherever I happened to be on vacation! My professional life intensified, I started a family and time ran out...
Retired since 2020, with the rather unexpected benefit of successive confinements, I resumed my research and discovered both genealogy software, and the power of the internet to consult digitized archives remotely, and platforms for sharing between genealogists.
As you can see, I've always had a real passion for genealogy: if, like me, you share this passion, or if this type of "detective" adventure (every ancestor search is a real investigation!) appeals to you, then join us!
I don't claim to be a specialist, but I do want to share, and I'm ready to take on the role of moderator and host.
See you soon!
