The Shift team is pleased to invite you to the webinar presenting its new report on the European Union 'sgas supply , which will take place on Tuesday December 6 from 6pm to 8.30pm .

This new Shift publication provides new insights into the European energy context, and the scale of the systemic threat to the continent's gas supply.

If Europe fails to decarbonize "voluntarily" to preserve our climate, it risks having to do so "forcibly" due to endemic constraints on its access to fossil fuels.

This report is based on an analysis of the gas database (production, supply contracts, etc.) of Norwegian market intelligence company Rystad Energy, one of the industry's leading sources. Our main findings are as follows:

• An analysis of the future of contracts, and Russian gas contracts in particular, shows that the European Union is likely to experience endemic constraints on its supplies.

• The decline in North Sea gas production is one of the key factors behind this endemic constraint.

• Europe and China, the two biggest gas importers, are likely to remain in systematic competition to secure their future supplies.

• The massive development of low-carbon energy sources is becoming a survival issue for the European economy.
