The Lyon Metropolitan Area, strongly committed to the fight against climate change and fossil fuel dependency, has decided to to develop its main heating and cooling network, the Centre Métropole, which serves the cities of Lyon, Villeurbanne, Bron and Vénissieux.

ELM, a Dalkia subsidiary and Public Service Delegate for the Centre Métropole heating and cooling network, has been working to develop the network, both to secure its supply and to provide more economical and environmentally-friendly heating and cooling to new subscribers.network, both to secure its supply and to bring more economical and environmentally-friendly heating and cooling to new subscribers.

At present, the heating network comprises around 130 km of piping, which will eventually reach 200 km, with around 1 TWh of heat delivered each year. The cooling network will eventually extend to 8 km, delivering 100 GWh of cooling per year.

Speakers:

Marc Beaufrere is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (Cluny 206). For the past 6 years, he has been working as a Project Manager for Dalkia on the district heating and cooling network for the Lyon metropolitan area.

Frédéric Jaffeux is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (Cluny 92). After 7 years with EDF ENR, he took over responsibility for the IS & Automation department at Dalkia's district heating and cooling network in the Lyon metropolitan area.
